Ifyou have a Windows computer, you can make the browser full-screen with F11. This auto-hides the address bar and bookmark bar and when you move your mouse to the top of the screen, it will show up again. However, both the address bar and bookmark bar will show up; as far as I know there is no way to make them show separately.
Ultimately until the feature is changed, another browser may be the answer.I gets rather tedious using keystrokes for every tab. I suppose the developers at Google have a lot of screen real estate and don't think about people on 800x480 when adding these features, or assume they fullscreen by default.
Also, it done for compatibility purpose. That is to avoid breaking websites for brave users where the website make not recognize brave as a browser but will recognize chrome and render the website as if it was rendering for chrome.
Indeed. This world is only operated by a handful of businesses overall. I mean, Google owns most of the internet. Facebook/Meta had its hands in things, getting content creators to add plugins on all their websites, which allowed them (Facebook) to track, store, and sell our data.
Many companies are now using Google Cloud for their websites or data. This includes Twitter, PayPal, UPS, Facebook, Yahoo, Intel, and over 1 million companies. In addition to the official source I linked, you also have -using-google-cloud-platform and -cloud/#dossierContents__outerWrapper which will show you a little.
Chromium is a free and open-source web browser project, mainly developed and maintained by Google . This codebase provides the vast majority of code for the Google Chrome browser, which is proprietary software and has some additional features
Vulnerabilities are a very long way from your intentional backdoor tinfoil hat conspiracy theories. People at Google would be very dumb to put a backdoor in Chromium where everyone can see it instead of putting one in Chrome close-sourced components.
How can I hide the address bar in Google Chrome? I found this article but I am unable to find a solution for macOS. Ideally, I would like all toolbars to disappear similar to how they do in QuickTime. see images:
As in other answers to this question, the best option I could find is by running chrome from a shell and passing in the --app (which runs google chrome in application mode or something of the sort) option as follows:
We are developing a smartform that has 4 tabs, each tab containing a portion of the entire form's content. The intent is to have a turbotax style wizard, only displaying the information applicable for that point in the process. We have a final tab for reviewing all the entered information (using data transfer rules to populate along the way) and we wanted to re-use the existing views but disable some visual elements on them.
For hiding header, you can use the set control's property and select No on the visible property. For hiding the entire column, you can use hide view control rule and select the column name to hide. Please note that the above method will only hide the text.
Use case: I have Smartsheet open in Chrome to discuss a list of items with a client. Right before I start to share my screen, I use CTRL+SHIFT+B to hide my bookmarks and it doesn't work (I do see the B toggling in Smartsheet though)! Yikes, I don't want my client to see my bookmarks because they contain sensitive names. I have to switch to another Chrome window that does not have Smartsheet for the shortcut to work.
Frequency: Daily because I use Smartsheet for external client discussions
Pain level: High because I'm a keyboard user and don't really think about it. This creates friction to an otherwise easy peasy process that doesn't require significant cognitive load. It also breaks core functionality in Chrome.
Adding my thoughts here on Conditional Formatting. Not everyone likes to see "color coding"/conditional formatting on sheets. It would be a great feature to have Conditional Formatting settings by user just like filters. If I set it up only I can see it unless I check the box "Share Conditional Formatting".
We have a sheet with a contact list drop down. What we would like to do is have the user's first and last name with their email address added to this drop down list when the account is created and added to the Everyone group. Has anyone else looked at this option?
Within Salesforce Quip, there is a Smartsheet Integration. I think it was developed by Smartsheet. Problem: The integration doesn't have a selection for the new Board view. One may only select from Grid, Gantt, Card, and Calednar. See my capture below. Thanks for looking into this. -Marc
It's the sharing bar, it will slide out of the way and return if your mouse touches the top edge of the screen. Move your mouse down and click on the app and it will roll up again. While the address bar in chrome is kinda near there, it's really shouldn't be hard to avoid touching the top edge.
@rayted22 It caused the same pain to me. This sharing bar is quite an intrusion when someone is sharing their work using web browsers! The truth is the bar is very sensitive and impossible for the user to completely avoid activating it while switching tabs. I have to use vertical tabs while the team sharing is on. Hope they can make it customizable in the future.
It doesn't help that the pin icon is confusing. Rather than showing the current pin state it shows the opposite one. It's like having a power switch with the "on" state labeled "off" and the "off" state labeled "on". It would be much clear if it was text saying "Pin bar" and "Unpin bar". No ambiguity.
I SPECIFICALLY would like to get chrome on mac to say "Updates are disabled by your administrator." I do not want it to error out, or anything weird like that. I want to know if there is a definitive way on Mac to mimic what I am able to do with Chrome on windows.
I take out the KeystoneRegistration from the following path: "Google Chrome > Contents > Versions > 66.xx > Google Chrome Framework > Versions > A > Frameworks" and then package it up. It takes out Chrome's ability to update automatically. When you go to Chrome > About it only says the version number, nothing else.
I did find another supported method from Google that they seem to hide for whatever reason. This way is done with a configuration profile. Just figured I'd throw out another option for people that might want an alternative method.
EDIT: Actually to clarify, as I seem to have jumped the gun, some of the machines are reverting back to auto-update. So far I have seen it on two 10.12 and two 10.13 machines. A couple of my VM's still have auto-update disabled, but I think they may end up getting enabled as well...I wonder if Google is forcing it to re-activate somehow.

after i've shared a prototype URL then i view it on my phone, is there a way to disable browser UI when viewing the prototype on mobile device? can you tuck away the browser chrome? it is a bit fussy and annoying trying to tap through a native app experience when i keep having to scroll around to get rid of the browser chrome. it feels clunky.
On Safari's mobile web browser (after adding site to home screen) there is a push of 40px for Safari's default time and battery. This causes the whole design to push down. Is it possible to get this fixed? When in browser, due to fixing the bottom nav to the bottom of the screen, it does not get shown when scrolling. All together I cannot see the product as it is meant to be used. (I know you have an app, but many of my employers are not going to just download an app to see these thing)
For some reason after latest XD update I lost all options to see prototype full screen on real device/phone. Non on safari browser, non when you download prototype to home screen. Using XD App it will not show fonts used, so that's not the option too. I am using windows so I don't even have ability to live preview via USB.
Yes, ive done that once in the last 2-3 monts. It worked well.
But whatever settings i set in adobe xd within "puplic prototyp" (Version 9.1.12.3 Mac), it doesnt work anymore. Everytime it opens with the safari browser frame.
Elaine, What happens when we want to send the link to users for testing, who do not have the XD App, and/or users who we do not expect to download the app? For example, I need the prototype to load in full screen like the app would, after the user clicks on the link that I send them, either through email or text. They should be able to experience the app like normal and not have the web interface in the way, and should not have to download/install the XD App.
An example could be that you are a freelance worker. Yes, you have XD, and yes you have the app. However, the business owner who you are making the app for, does not. Now, sure, the least they could do for their app is to download the XD app and test the app the freelancer makes for them. However, what if they do not have an Adobe account, do not want to download the app, etc.
