Otherthan an iPhone 13, I also own a 2014 Mac mini running on Mac Monterey. I am able to search for older messages via key words, or looked for messages sent within a certain period of time but continuously scrolling through in the Messages app. However it is very time consuming.
That will not work. Messages cannot be read/accessed directly in iCloud. The best option is to either print screenshots using the phone or find a third-party application, similar to , that will allow downloading messages.
Thanks for the recommendation. I have downloaded the iMazing app and purchase a licence for it. Still playing around with it to get the best outcome in exporting the messages. But definitely the way to go.

Ok thanks! I am not very Techy and my husband just passed away and I am trying to save all his text messages from his iPhone. So I downloaded the touch copy but not sure how to get to the applications folder. Can you help?
Text messages, if you are not using iCloud Messages, are saved in your iPhone backup. But they are replaced as you make additions and deletions. If you wish to archive them, you can use a 3rd party program on the computer to download them. TouchCopy is one that is compatible with Windows and Mac, and PhoneView is one that is for Mac only. I know that TouchCopy has a trial version and a paid version. Depending on what you want to do, you can at least use the trial version to see if you like it and if you have a lot of data, you may need to purchase the paid version.
I'm sorry, but it has been a while since I used it. You will need to follow the instructions for the app, then connect the iPhone to the computer. What kind of computer are you using, Windows or Mac? If Windows, is it Windows 10?

Apple doesn't provide a direct way to export SMS messages to Windows. You need to use third-party software like FoneTrans to help you transfer text messages from iPhone to computer. Here is a simple guide you can check out:
If you only need to save a few important messages, you can take screenshots of these messages on your iPhone and transfer these images to your Windows 11 computer. You can transfer the screenshots via email, cloud storage services like Dropbox or Google Drive, or directly connect your iPhone to your computer and transfer the images.
First, you need to back up your iPhone to your Windows computer using iTunes. Connect your iPhone to your computer and open iTunes. If you don't have iTunes installed, download and install it from the Apple website. Once your device is connected and recognized by iTunes, select your iPhone's icon in iTunes, go to the 'Summary' tab, and then click on 'Back Up Now' to start backing up your iPhone to your computer.
Once you've installed a third-party tool, open it and select the option to extract data from an iTunes backup. The tool should automatically locate the iTunes backup file. Follow the prompts to extract text messages. These tools often allow you to view the messages within the application and save them in various formats like .txt, .html, or .pdf. Save the extracted messages to your desired location on your Windows 11 computer. After that, you can open, view, edit and print iPhone text messages from a PC.
On my iPhone 13, press down on a message you want to get text from. It should popup tools to copy, translate, and more... Press on 'More...' and it should allow you to multiple select each message. Select all that you want and then press the bottom right send icon. Press that and then provide an email address or phone number if desired.

Your iOS device can hold thousands of messages, from fond memories and photos to critical information which your attorney may need to use in a legal case. With iMazing, you can export your messages on both Mac and PC and in several different formats:
Always make sure you are running the latest iMazing version, to do so select Check for Updates from the iMazing menu, or just download the latest available version for your computer below.Download and install iMazing on your Mac or PC computer.
The first item, in the top left corner of iMazing is the Discover view. Make sure it is selected. In the main window, look for the Media and Communications section and click Messages.
iMazing will prompt you to connect the device to your computer on the first time you're using it. To do so use a USB cable, and unlock the device using your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and follow the instructions for pairing.
iMazing needs to proceed to a backup to extract data. You can now decide if you want a full restorable backup of the device or only need to access the messages and conversations only. The first option uses less storage, the second is restorable.
If there is a preexisting backup of the device, the previous screen will not be displayed and instead you will be be asked if you want to use this existing backup, or perform a subsequent backup to refresh the contents.
When you select a conversation in the left column, you'll see it's corresponding messages and attachments displayed. If you only want to save certain messages, select them now. If you need to export multiple conversations in bulk, you can select them now too.
iMazing will display a configuration sheet from which you can customize your export. Here is the PDF Export sheet:Each export format presents different options, see below for more detail on what they do. Click Next to continue.
iMazing then displays a dialog asking you where you want to save the exported messages:Select a location, change the file name if needed, then click Choose on macOS or Save on Windows. iMazing generates and saves the file, and you can then read these messages in the format you've chosen, or import them into other apps.
