Hello everyone, I bought an ESET Internet Security license. I can activate the Windows and Android version. But I can't activate the Linux version. I am asked for a username and password, while I only have a license key as information sent by ESET... Does any of you know if there is a solution?

Unfortunately it is not clear what product you downloaded. "NOD32" can refer to ESET NOD32 Antivirus, ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Linux desktop or generally to any ESET product as they were simply well known as NOD32.

I bought an ESET Internet Security license. I can activate the Windows and Android version. But I can't activate the Linux version. I am asked for a username and password, while I only have a license key as information sent by ESET... Does any of you know if there is a solution?

I have reached out to the German sales to make sure to remove the information about the already discontinued product for Linux from the purchase information above. If you don't need a license for all devices because of this, you can contact the seller for a complete or partial refund.

I'm trying to activate my product, and I get this error when I try to update the virus sigs database: "Invalid Username and/or Password."
I made an account on my.eset.com, I brought the product for two PCs from Eset's online shop, got a License Key through email, and added it to the License Manager.
But I didn't got any Username/Password combo in the email, and the Username/Password from the License Manager doesn't works, it dumps the "Invalid Username and/or Password."
I tried to recover my Username and Password, but I got the same email with only a license key.
Any ideas on how to solve this ? Thanks !

If a username and password to update legacy products was not included in the license email, please ask the seller to provide it. Current products support activation and management which is not the case of legacy products.

Hello,

I have received my license, but require a username/password. I haven't been able to find a way to actually find my username/password for the license and all the posts relating to this just have someone sending a DM.

Please check your personal messages for your U/P. I'd recommend contacting the seller and ask to convert this EAV license to EAV for Linux desktop license so that you are eligible to use the replacement product once the current legacy version of EAV for Linux desktop reaches EOL.

I'm having the same issue with Debian ( debian-7.5.0-i386-netinst ). I can't find any means to activate the trial account (there was never a prompt), the username and password are just blank. The virus definitions bundled with Nod32 Version 4.0.81.0 are ancient as well (8719), so I'd like to be able to update.

The document contains a list of ESET NOD32 and AVG antivirus username and password combinations along with their expiration dates. There are also some Kaspersky Internet Security serial keys provided. The passwords can be used to access various trial versions and updates of the antivirus software.Read less

And it's not good when someone can steal your ESET license (username & password) data, because then he can get updates at the expensive of you. (Especially if you have a multi-device/-user-license it could be bad.)

No, we don't ignore it. I'm trying to get as much information as possible before I post an official reply. Definitely this is not a serious issue, personally I assume that using https would cause many more issues with updates than with http plus it would make troubleshooting update issues much more difficult.

And I think if I go to an internet caf and the next day I want to install ESET on another PC - and I want to activate it with a multi user license - and then it "says" that the license is already in use* although I know that the number of

I imagine those are from carelessness and trials. None of my accounts are compromised. I use encrypted e-mails. Rackspace hosts. An encrypted drive, Deslock. I follow the company rules and guidelines.

We are working on a new license management system where administrators will be able to manage particular licenses. This should also address the concerns mentioned in this topic. As for home users, the appropriate distributor should send a notification if a license leaks or is being overused.

As I wrote here it's difficult for ESET to find out if an unauthorized person is using the licence. I could also activated the licence so if it don't exceed the count of devices that I (ans also the "bad guy" ) can use it. How ESET should get out that there's something wrong?

I also don't see a really solution. The easiest and best solution is to encrypt the password or also just send it all over an HTTPS connection. So what it difficult about this? You also use HTTPS at this forum so more than ever you should use it at the updates.

To minimize the effect it would also be good to have an online dashboard were you can see yourself if a licence is used by a device that you don't known and then you should be able to delete the licence directly from the online dashboard (without calling ESET or something cumbersome).

How would be then able to inspect packets and troubleshoot update issues if the communication was encrypted? Troubleshooting update issues and using SSL on this forum are very different things. We don't spy on you and don't strictly check the number of licenses being used. However, as already said, our distributors are able to check license use and notify the user if overuse is detected and take appropriate measures to prevent unauthorized users from using the license. Home users have up to 5 licenses so the argument that one wouldn't remember on which devices a license was installed sounds weird to say the least.

I also don't know what this have to do with this topic? Should it mean "Hey, guys outside - just steal the licence information of some users - We anyway don't check how many devices are using the licence!"?

Yeah; I already said that if the license is overused then there is of course no problem for your distributors to find it out. But if I e.g. only use 2 of my 3 devices license and then somebody steals my licence and activates another device the license isn't overused and I can't detected it!

Hello,
I had a running license with my NOD32 Linux , I had to move computers and re-install everything , I have removed the NOD32 from the old system , and I have installed in the new system once I try to activate I do receive that the username/password are invalid , I can post the username of the license but I don't know if it's allowed if you'd like to check it up , but still I can't use my license nor I can use the other one that I bought for other PCs.

Yes I know that my friend , but unfortunately I buy only cd-keys , so I am only provided with cd-keys , but nevermind the first license I have it , but I can no more use it because it's still stuck on my old installation

If you did so, you must have received your ESET username/password and Licence Key to your e-mail adress, and if in the meantime you have lost this email (licence data) -> proceed to earlier mentioned ESET lost licence web page....

With a CD key you'll need to turn to the seller from whom you received it. Unfortunately you don't have location set in your profile so we have no clue where you are from and cannot recommend the appropriate contact information.

I have resolved it , forum staff can help you with this , but in my case I had to buy a license directly from ESET or direct eset partner , and not any other reseller , someone will reply to you about this matter , don't worry.

In that case you need to turn to the seller or to your local support with a proof of purchase (e.g. receipt). Activation codes on boxes need to be registered first on the web and then you'll receive a registration email.
