Will you donate or volunteer to support Seed the Vote to help us win in 2024?

Dear fellow voters, 

I know lots of us are worried about the 2024 elections, particularly at the national scale. I usually use this email list and election blog to focus on local elections, and I promise I'll do my typical writeup soon! But Kim and I are worried enough that we've started spending more time and money on national politics than we ever have before. 

We believe that if we come together, we can elect Kamala Harris, secure a Democratic majority in Congress, and keep Trump and (some of) his MAGA minions out of office in November. That's why we're volunteering with a group called Seed the Vote. This past weekend we spent the weekend in Reno (Nevada), canvassing to support Kamala Harris for President and Jacky Rosen for US Senate. We came away inspired, energized, and more committed to make a difference in this election (check out this post about our experience). 

Face-to-face conversations with voters are one of the most effective tools to win elections. That’s why Seed the Vote plans to send 3,000 volunteers to doorknock in battleground states, partnering with and building power of local progressive organizations. The races in those states will be VERY tight, but that also means we have the chance to have a real impact. In Nevada in 2022, STV volunteers talked to nearly 7,500 people at their doors during a Senate race won by only 9,000 votes!

So we're asking you -- loyal readers of my election blog -- to support Seed the Vote in one of these ways**: 

1. Donate! 
We don’t want cost to be a barrier for anyone who wants to volunteer their time, so we're raising money to pay for canvassers' travel/lodging costs. Our goal is to raise $3000, enough to send 3 volunteers for a week of canvassing. And we donated $500 to seed the pot :-)

2. Volunteer! 

STV really needs volunteers in key swing states (biggest needs are AZ, MI, WI, & PA). For those who need financial support, STV can often help cover hotel & flight costs. To learn more, sign up for an info session here.

We plan to doorknock once or twice more before the election. We'd love to have friends with us and introduce you to the awesome organizers there.
