Fellow Voters,

Lots of us are worried about the election, particularly at the national level. So we're taking direction from Michelle Obama, who told us to DO SOMETHING! We can't leave it to others to do the work, and we don't want to wake up on Nov 6 wishing we'd done more. Action is the best antidote to anxiety.

That's why we're hosting an afternoon of election activities. We want to help put Kamala Harris in the White House, win a Democratic majority in Congress, be informed voters in our local and state races, and celebrate our investment in the democratic process.

Saturday, October 26, 12:30-6:30pm in West Berkeley (specific location will be provided to people who RSVP). Please read full details here, including how to RSVP.

Over the course of the afternoon, you can:
  • Phone-bank to voters in swing states and districts
  • Write last-minute letters to swing state voters
  • Get more information about local + state measures on your ballot
  • Hang out and celebrate democracy!
Come for as much or as little time as you like. We're inviting you because we like you, we don't see you often enough, and we'd like you to see/meet like-minded friends. We'll have some light snacks throughout the day, plus cocktails + mocktails for a Democracy Happy Hour.

Can't join us on the 26th? You can still DO SOMETHING
  1. Mobilize.us has tons of local and virtual volunteering opportunities, including phone-banking, door-knocking, and letter-writing, both to swing states and for important congressional and other races here in California.
  2. Go Canvass in a swing state with Seed the Vote before the election. WI+MI+PA are the biggest needs, and AZ is open too. NV (Reno) only has weekday spaces left, and I can testify the team there is stupendous. STV does great support and provides financial assistance for those who need it. Sign up for an info session here
  3. If you're already going to Reno with Seed the Vote, let us know. We'll be there Oct 18-20 and would love to connect with you there. Or just be a resource and share stories :-)
And finally, of course, probably lots of you already are DOING SOMETHING. Thank you! We'd love to hear what you're up to too -- there's nothing like taking action, together in community, to fight anxiety. We hope to do so with you!

Peace,
Jeff & Kim

PS -- THANK YOU to the 25+ people from this list who already donated $4700 to our fundraiser for STV, far surpassing our initial $3000 goal. We were so humbled to see that outpouring of support. Thank you to those of you who forwarded our appeals, as we got donations from people we've never met! That support will pay for nearly 5 volunteer canvassers for a week of lodging + travel expenses.

PPS - Thank you also to my friends Edie & Prajna, whose email we shamelessly plagiarized (it helps to have friends who are communications professionals).

Fellow voters,
Next weekend, Sat Oct 26, Kim and I are hosting a party to Do Something & celebrate democracy. You're invited! We've started getting RSVPs, and we'd love to see you too! If you want to invite a friend or two, feel free! (more than that, check with us on capacity)

Please see our post, RSVP there, and we'll tell you where in Berkeley. Please help us by RSVPing by Thu Oct 24, so we know what quantities of refreshments and materials to have on hand.

Kim & I are headed to Reno this weekend for one last (for us) weekend of canvassing.

Best,
Jeff

PS -- For those of you waiting for my election recommendations, my Berkeley rec's should be posted on the blog by this weekend.
