I'm hooked on canvassing.

I went back to Reno this past weekend as a birthday present to myself, following up on the terrific trip Kim and I took in early September. I treasure the chances I've had to talk to truly undecided voters (they exist! and some of them are thirsty for conversation). I'm so moved and inspired by the other volunteers and organizers I've had the honor of working with. Even the Trump voters teach me something.

I believe face-to-face conversations with voters are one of the most effective tools to win elections. For most voters, that conversation is the closest they'll get to direct contact with a candidate. That’s why Seed the Vote will send at least 3,000 volunteers to doorknock in battleground states, partnering with and building power of local progressive organizations. The races in those states will be VERY tight, so we have the chance to have a real impact. In Nevada in 2022, STV volunteers talked to nearly 7,500 people at their doors during a Senate race won by only 9,000 votes!

Kim and I want to make sure cost won't be a barrier to anyone who wants to volunteer their time, so we're trying to raise at least $3000 to support lodging + travel for 3 volunteers for a week of canvassing. THANK YOU to folks who already chipped in: we raised $2160 from our first ask two weeks ago. Please help us reach our goal this week: donate $50, $100, or more here.

If you can travel: sign up for an info session to learn about STV's canvass operations in AZ, MI, WI, & PA.

If you'd like to let your fingers do the walking, learn more about STV's swing state phone banks

And if you can join us in Reno, I'm going for Oct 5-6 weekend and Kim and I are going together for Oct 18-20. Learn more -- or if you already know you're ready for it -- join our "SeaHobs" pod (and I'm looking for a carpool on Fri Oct 4 and/or back home on Sun Oct 6/Mon Oct 7 - I'm not driving, so it's a carpool or the train for me).

And HOORAY for many of you who already replied to our first appeal by telling us about your own canvassing, letter-writing, donating, etc.

Action is the best antidote for anxiety!

Best,
Jeff

PS -- I'm also working on my local election recommendations. I'm particularly looking for input on Berkeley Msr BB vs CC (can anybody school me on why they're both on the ballot?) plus Berkeley Msr W.
