Q. Tell me about yourself?
A. Don't give your entire life history. If they're interested in
specific personal information they will ask. Start withyour degree,
mention your work experience, or the key subjects that you've
studied.

Q. Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
A. Your answer should be appropriate to the position you are
currently seeking eg moved into a team leadership role. If you have
longer term goals eg. CEO of company, or principal consultant, it
doesn't hurt to mention them.

Q. What are your strengths?
A. Identify at least 3. You should have some technical strengths as
well as skills in generic areas like communication.

Q. What are your weaknesses?
A. Have three prepared. Make them work / personality (not food)
related. Try and focus on those you're doing something about, so
your answer sounds more positive.

Q. Why do you wish to work for our organisation? Or What interests
you about our products / services?
A. This is your opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge of the
company and the work it is doing.

Q. Why should I employ you rather than somebody else?
A. Focus on the skills and experience you have to contribute to the
organisation.

Q. Are you prepared to relocate?
A. This is often asked of graduates. Being prepared to relocate will
assist you in your career.

Q. In what technical areas do you consider yourself proficient?
A. Know what you are good at. Is it design, data analysis,
simulation, programming?

Q. What was your last salary and bonus?
A. Answer honestly, at least give a range. Now is not the time to
ask about this positions salary – wait for the interviewer to offer
this information.

Q. What sort of people do you like to work with?
A. This is looking at your likely fit with existing team members.
Focus on positive attributes such as positive, energetic,
enthusiastic, committed or competent.

Q. What sort of person do you like to be supervised by? Or what
style of management gets the best from you?
A. Focus on positive attributes such as competent, supportive,
forward thinking. Do not mention, unless asked, attributes you don't
like.

Q. Tell me about the person who you've found most difficult to work
for/with?
A.. Try to identify attributes that most people would regard as
negative, such as incompetent or failing to meet deadlines. Avoid
discussing managerial styles eg micro-management, as they can be
tolerated in many workplaces. Be careful not to be derogatory about
former managers / work mates. Focus on traits not individuals.
