Hello everyone,

I am working on a duct design and need some guidance on the best approach to model it.

I have attached an image of the duct shape I need to create. The part has:

  • A complex curved profile
  • Change in cross‑section along the length
  • Multiple outlet openings near the end
  • Smooth transitions and bends

I would like to understand:

  • What is the best modeling approach for this type of duct?
  • Should I start with surfaces or solids?
  • Is it better to use sweep / loft with guide curves, or another method?
  • Any tips for maintaining wall thickness and smooth airflow transitions?

I am mainly looking for best practices, modeling strategy, and common pitfalls to avoid while creating such complex duct geometry.

Any examples, tutorials, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Regards,
Sagar
