Hollow-narrow semi-sphere

Hi folks,

I'd like to create a hollow-narrow semi-sphere - kind of like a snails' shell but without the spiral on the side.  Once that's created, I'd like to have a cut plane going down one of the sides.  So essentially, one side of the semi-sphere will be like a right angle triangle where the hypotenuse is created by the cut and the other side will be rounded from the original snail shell.

Does that make sense?  If not, I can try again...

I really appreciate any help to get me started!
