Hi,

Just wondering if it would be at all possible to receive the alerts via EMAIL rather than SMS?

I currently receive alerts by email and would like to try out Cadpage.

Thanks.

Hello,

Not directly, for a variety of complicated technical reasons, Cadpage support for emailed alerts is just not going to happen.

There are indirect ways to make this happen. The best is to sign up with the Active911.com messaging service. They can take your email alerts and push them to Cadpage without relying on text messages, which avoids a lot of problems.

Alternatively, all cell network vendors maintain email address that will turn email into SMS or MMS text messages. You can either forward or direct your email alerts to these addresses.

For Verizon, the email address are
NNNNN...@vtext.com for text messages and
NNNNN...@vzwpix.com for MMS messages

Other vendors have different gateway addresses.

Have a nice day,
-Ken

Yep I use SMS and email. email is setup on our station house PC we had to give our dispatch center the email address to add to their system. Email goes off the same time we get a SMS. Active 911 is still in beta and things are being added everyday.

Responding, maps, email, even regular cell phones. soon they hope to have real time calls on map and each members location.\

I have forwarded my emails to my text messaging but it comes up as coming from beginning of email address+caf_=phone number=vtex...@gmail.com
   - but like this, CADpage doesnt filter it.

How can i have it come from my real address when forwarding to text?

Thanks,

Hello,

You can override the default sender address filter. Go into Location
Settings and check the box labeled "Override Location Filter" Then set
the "From: (filter)" setting to some portion of the actual from address
that you can count on always being there. You might try setting it to
=*<phone number>

The one thing to beware of is setting the filter to your numeric phone
number by itself. The way the logic usually works is the message will
be accepted if there is any substring in the actual from address that
matches the sender filter. But if the filter value is all numeric, the
rules change and the filter has to match the beginning portion of the
the actual sender address. This works well, and was intended to be used
when the sender address is a phone number. But it will not work at all
if you do it.

Good luck,
-Ken
