The Purpose
The Ultimatum
If these three demands are not adequately met, those who sign on will withhold our support for them in the upcoming election. Until these demands are met, the following will pledge will be in order for the signed members of this petition:
No more volunteering, no more canvassing, no more phone calls, no more campaign donations, no more fundraising, no more efforts to "Get Out The Vote", no more campaigning for them, no more interning, no more endorsing, no more event planning, no more organizing, and no more positive press.
The Demand
We are demanding that our elected Democrats respect the Democratic Party's position on unconventional methods of oil and gas extraction; We are demanding an immediate moratorium on fracking and acidization. We are demanding that our elected Democrats start listening to the majority of their constituents, 58% of whom are demanding a moratorium or a ban on fracking. Finally, we are demanding that our elected Democrats start responding to the irrefutable science of climate change with genuine prudence by ending the fracking nonsense.
Until such actions are taken by each and every individual candidate in the Democratic party, the individual members who are not dedicated to placing a moratorium on fracking will lose our assistance or support until such actions are taken. Such lack of support is mapped out below. No more donations to any candidate that does not respect the position of the party platform. No more phone banking, no more canvassing, no more fundraising, no more grassroots organizing, no more event planning, and no more assistance to democratic candidates that do not make the implementation of a fracking moratorium a top priority. No more volunteering, no more voter registration, and no more endorsements for candidates that do not favor a moratorium or ban on hydraulic fracturing.
Contested elections against Republicans, regardless of the tightness of the race, will receive the same absence of a vote unless a fracking moratorium is a top priority. Our demands are clear. The implications are real. The choice is theirs.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."

There is no solution regarding water, without a sufficient decrease in GHG emissions. I hope Mr. Gleick makes that clear. Otherwise, he may be doing more harm than good. We now understand that S-3-05 is too little too late. We need the S-3-05 2050 target achieved by 2030.

Damien,
Count me in.
But also I would advise linking the stopping of all past, present and
future fracking as related to the Calif "water crisis" too. Fracking damages
our water supply -- permanently. We are in a serious drought and need to
stop everything that threatens our water in the state.
Fracking is the #1 threat.
Thanks for doing this.

Dear California Fractivists,
I have started a new petition, calling on our elected California Democrats to immediately place a moratorium on Fracking in California. Over the past few days, nearly 100 people have already signed. I am hoping that you will take a few moments to sign on and help me spread the word.

Too far for me. I would have to drive.
I am sure the others on this list will make the point, if Peter is clueless about our need to reduce emissions enough. All of his water-availability assumptions have to be based on some assumed GHG emission reduction trajectory. Will we achieve it? What if we don’t? How will we achieve it?
I work the Light Duty Vehicle problem. We will need rapid societal change. It must include more than just the easy stuff. I am not optimistic. Even the CDP E. Caucus wants to pretend it knows we can get by with just the easy stuff.
