Some results from Green Building Insider's recent survey of state American Institute of Architects (AIA) chapters have raised some eyebrows. Specifically, a survey question inquiring about the chapters' level of concern for future green construction after American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding runs out surprised AIA's chief executive officer and a Green Building Alliance official. Survey results and reaction are included in this edition of GBI.

GBI SURVEY OF AIA CHAPTERS REVEALS MIXED FEELINGS ABOUT GREEN BUILDING EFFORTS IN THEIR STATES

BILL TO SPUR ENERGY-EFFICIENT BUILDING RETROFITS GAINS HOUSE APPROVAL
The House recently approved a bill that would allow federal loan guarantees to be applied to energy efficiency projects funded through Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) bonds.   The PACE bonds provision, advocated by Rep. STATES TO DEVELOP COMPREHENSIVE ACTION PLAN TO IMPROVE ENERGY EFFICIENCY OF EXISTING BUILDINGS
To help states develop strategies to improve the energy efficiency of existing buildings as well as reduce costs and harmful emissions, the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) recently announced that six states -- Colorado, Hawaii, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Utah and Wisconsin -- have been selected to participate in the Policy Academy on State Building Efficiency Retrofit Programs.  "Current efforts at cost-effective energy upgrades touch a very small portion of buildings every year," according to NGA . . . read more.
