Welcome to the first of our weekly football season emails.  I hope that you all are excited for football season and spreading the word to any new alumni in the New England area.

Here's a quick version of "The More You Know" prior to this week's showdown with UC Davis.

• UC Davis plays football in the Great West Conference, which is an FCS (I-AA) league.  However, UC Davis is a respectable football program and finished 6-5 in 2009.
  
• The program at Davis was originally an agricultural expansion of the Berkeley campus known as University Farm and was founded in 1905.  UC Davis began operation as a separate school in 1959.
  
• UC Davis has been ranked the 9th best public university in the United States.
• Even though the UC Davis teams are called the Aggies, the school's official mascot is the Mustang.  The unofficial mascot of UC Davis is the Fistulated Cow.
  
• In September 2005, the UC Davis Aggies were named Sports Illustrated's Team of the Week, after they were one of the only I-AA schools that year to upset a I-A school.  That team?  The Stanford Cardinal.
  

Saturday's game will be broadcast nationally on CSN California, and will only be available on select satellite coverage plans.  This means your best place to watch the game will be at the Baseball Tavern with your friends at CACNE!
