The Association for Science Teacher Education’s Environmental Education Forum is seeking chapter proposals for a monograph entitled Educating Science Teachers for Sustainability. This monograph will focus on the inclusion of sustainability content and pedagogy in science teacher preparation as it applies to instructional practices in K-12 science classrooms. The purpose of this book will be to share knowledge and ideas about sustainability pedagogy in the context of science teacher preparation as it applies to teaching and learning in K-12 science classrooms and/or non-formal settings such as museums, aquaria, etc. The book will share, examine and discuss sustainability education foundations and pedagogical principles through theoretical and practical applications as it primarily pertains to the preparation of preservice and inservice science teachers. The book will inform science teacher educators about the historical and philosophical underpinnings of sustainability education, current trends in topics related to sustainability as it pertains to science teacher education, and sustainability-specific pedagogical practices and content-pedagogical knowledge for science teacher education. A few chapters will also highlight sustainability exemplary practice in actual K-12 classrooms.
