Subject: [SCUTTLEBUTT:9155] NOAA Ocean Today (New Video): Arctic Sea Ice Sets Record Low
To: scutt...@vims.eduNOAA Ocean Today continues to bring you videos that cover a wide variety of topics written in manner understandable to students and adults. Our latest video discusses the recent analysis on the loss of Arctic sea ice. According to the National Snow and Ice Data Center, the summer sea ice minimum extent has dropped to its smallest size in recorded history. It’s now 3.41 million square kilometers or 1.32 million square miles. The coverage of sea ice was relatively stable from 1979 – 2000, but has since been reduced by nearly 50%. Watch our latest 'Happening Now' video that discusses the loss of summer sea ice cover as one of the the most visible warning signs of severe climate change.
