Hi all,

Thanks for a great meeting last evening! I will be sending a larger follow-up but I wanted to send out this draft post first to get input from you all. This would be an introductory post explaining why CAC is taking part in Plastic Free July and that more posts will come throughout July.

Please look at the draft and provide any feedback. We also need a caption to go along with the post. https://canva.link/kfsrcnu9ik8qkkj

Sarah, I can share this via Canva with you if you want to edit it directly. Let me know. Thanks!

Best,

Brittany Friedman

Hi Brittany,

Thanks for putting the post together. This looks fantastic. I love how you put together the intro graphic - the call to action is super strong! I have two thoughts:

1. Could we put "Plastic Free July" as a header on the intro graphic so it's super clear what the post is about?
2. We could move "Stay tuned to learn about how plastics..." to the caption to make the graphic a little less crowded

Depending on when the post goes live, and if it makes sense, we could include a mention of celebrating a plastic free Fourth of July in the caption.

I let the Social Team know about the campaign and gave them an overview on what the Plastics Team is planning! I'll let you know when I hear back about next steps.

Thanks,
Sarah

I went in and updated it based on your notes. Let me know what you think!

Hi Brittany,

For the caption, how about something like:

Plastics are fossil fuels
or
Plastic is Big Oil’s Plan B

The text at the top right (which looks like it may be from the Plastic Free July campaign) doesn’t really align with how plastics contribute to climate change, so maybe something there to help folks connect the dots.

Mary

Hi Brittany,

Looks great! I especially love that all the recommendations are in the positive tone, insteadof "don't use plastic water bottles" which I tend to do myself. Just a slight accessibility recommendation for the top part of the first page, from my end the blue on blue is slightly hard to read. I am excited to do the portion about what the volunteers like to use instead of disposables, for me dog pee pads come into mind immediately.

Hi all,

Just got back in town, sorry for the delay. Here are the updates based on the notes provided. The background was faded because that is how PFJ designed it to be so I did my best to brighten it. I have attached them below. Are we able to post this tomorrow?

Very exciting!

I echo Marilyn’s feedback about the text at the top of the post. Could you make the words “pop” more boldly? They look faded, so could be missed.

What would you think about using these posts to attract new members for the NR Team? Maybe you could create and link to a simple Google form where people could pledge to participate in PlasticFreeJuly, indicate if they’d like to learn more about Climate Action California’s Plastics/Toxins Team, and maybe (optionally) share one thing they’ll experiment with to reduce their use of plastic.

Thoughts?
Linda

Hi Brittany,
Welcome back :) I'm finalizing the exact date of the post with the social team now but pushing for tomorrow! If you have time today, could you send over the post caption you'd like as well? I am setting the post up now in our publishing app.

For the caption I am thinking something like this:

It's officially Plastic Free July and CAC's Plastics & Toxins Team invites you to take the pledge with us for a July that is free of plastic. Once a week we will share how plastics are affecting the climate crisis and how we can take steps to combat this. Stay tuned for more! #plasticfreejuly #plasticfree #climateaction

Let me know what you think!

It looks great! Thanks for putting that together so quickly! Do we need to call out the plastics and toxins team, or can we just say "we invite you" (as in, CAC)?

My only other tiny comment is maybe we say "Follow along to learn more!" as our closer to encourage new folks to follow, and current followers to check back.

What are your thoughts on tagging Plastic Free July in the post for visibility?

Hello,

I love adding that to the caption! And yes, let's tag PFJ in the post, as well. Double checking this will be posted on LinkedIn and Instagram?

Thank you.
