CABS Minutes Aug 23, 2021:

Meeting time began at 5:30 pm. Began gathering at 5pm. At the Library in Leonardtown.
Attendance was 16 persons.
All three (3) official of the Executive Committee were in attendance:
1) Those in attendance were: Mary-Jane, Janet, Susan, Karen, Julie, James, Mandy, Kevin, Donna, Joe, Carl, Chris, Linda, Angie, Carolyn, Judy.
2) Anyone interested in becoming an official can register immediately as a candidate for any office or until the 2nd week of November for the next election. We could use a Secretary who would take over preparing these Minutes, and a Hospitality Chairperson who would have oversight of any event(s).
3) Karen and Mary-Jane have volunteered to be the Election Committee to seek out candidates for each office, and later to collect votes.
4) Last week Friday August 20, had 6 persons attended the breakfast event at the Cracker Barrel.
5) Next breakfast event is this Friday August 27, starting at 9:30 am at the Leonardtown Cafe.
6) The CABS 27th anniversary, on August 18 – see pictures linked HERE – had 25 people participate, and both Katie and Chris did an excellent job as the Hostesses.
The check for the members who prepaid was made out at $480 to the Ale House, but most of that was money prepaid for each menu selection, while there were 17 persons who received the $10 for prepaying and so the actual deduction from the CABS treasury was $170.00 and not the full $480.
7) A Motion was made by Karen who insisted that the group also pay / refund the $10 for the above anniversary dinner for the four (4) long time members who attended that event.
The President objected to this idea as being inappropriate and pretentious and he voted no.
The Motion was voted by a majority to accept – and next the Treasurer is to send by U.S. mail a check to Joyce and to Pete and to Jane and to Coralie.
Therefore the sum of $40 is to be withdrawn from the CABS treasury.
8) The Executive Committee decided to approve the new advertisement of the group into the local County Times Newspaper. The ad for publication is submitted today Tuesday August 24th.
9) Decided to have a Game-Night on Monday September 13, at our regular 5 pm Meeting time and same place at the Leonardtown Library Room # 2. Please bring snacks to this event.
10) The Port Tobacco Players are now open with new play – 12 Angry Men – starting next month.
11) A Holiday – Labor Day – coming in 2 weeks Monday Sept 6, so this coming Monday Meeting the group needs to select a restaurant for that date as the Library will be closed.
12) Preparation for Thanksgiving is still too far in advance.
13) Decided to follow long time tradition and have a Pizza Night / Election Night on November 8, at the Library, to vote on any official nominated to a CABS position. The plan is to order free pizza for each person attending – but the old Pizza Hut has gone out of business due to the COVID and so a new pizza provider will need to be decided.
14) The next regular Monday Meeting will be August 30, at the Library in Leonardtown, Meeting Room # 2, start gathering at 5pm and the meeting starts after 5:30pm.
15) After this Meeting the attendees split into two (2) groups, as a couple went the Red Robin and a larger group of ten (10) went to the Salsa restaurant in Leonardtown.
16) This meeting ended at 6:25 pm.
