I've done tooooo much looking around at FEs for toooo long now, and I finally stumbled upon Cabrio  -  and I love it.  Just wanted to say thanks first and foremost.  This feels like everything I wanted in a Hyperspin-esque FE, without all of the overhead and nonsense.  I'm relatively new to arcade builds, but this FE has kept me endeavoring to build something.

Secondly, after I stumbled upon Cabrio, I did a bunch of tweaking to hone it further into what I want, but I have some questions.  I am no where near a programmer, and even XML is a stretch for me, but the Cabrio site documentation (as well as some Googling) has been good for me up to this point.  I'm happy with what I have, but if possible, I'd like to take my Cabrio build further.  I'm on the latest Windows build on the Cabrio main site, FYI.  I currently have the wheel on the right with gamescreen Titles and an in-game Snap on the left (screenshot attached).

1. I really, really like these titles on the Cabrio demonstration video, and I've found the few that were used in that video on the Cabrio artwork site, but where can I find the rest of them for MAME?  And are there any similar for NES, SNES, and Genesis (all of the emus in my cab)?
2. As I mentioned, I'm new to coding/XML, so this may be easy, but how can I halt the spin on the background?  Also, when I use the <max-image-width> tag in the config.xml file, it doesn't seem to affect my Title and Snap images.  I wanted to give just a little bit more room between the Title and Snap.  What am I doing wrong?
3.  I'm getting several errors that pop up when I launch, and one is that sound doesn't initialize.  Can you guys help me fix at least the sound, or the others?  Like I said, I have a very thin grasp on things at this point, so any help would be greatly appreciated.  (screenshot attached of the errors)

Thank you all so much for your hard work on this great FE!

Ok, I got rid of some extra things in the cabrio folders, and it cleared up all errors except the sound.

Thanks

Psycho -

I've tried several different versions of DirectX, but to no avail.  I've even tried several different versions of Windows, with clean installs each time.  I must be missing something.

I've tried and tried, but cannot get the sound to work in Windows.  Does anyone else have this problem, or does anyone know of a fix?  :(

Thanks!

FYI:  I had a breakthrough with the sound.  I've been running my arcade computer through HDMI to my LCD monitor while working on it before setting up the cabinet, but never got sound.  When putting it all in the cabinet tonight and changing to a CRT, I switched to a set of speakers that are connected through the 1/4" jack on the computer  -  and the sounds in Cabrio worked!

One other question though:  Is there any way to set a default list for Cabrio to start in?  Rather than ALL GAMES, I'd like Cabrio to boot up to a KID'S list, if possible.  Anyone know how, or is that even functional?

Thanks

Hi Ben. I'm trying to do the same thing, using a default list of games rather than ALL GAMES but seems to be impossible. Maybe changing something in config.c before compilation, but I don't have the knowledge to do that. Someone here can help?

thanks.

This is an interesting use case. I'll look into it as I'm playing with the c++ conversion.

The only problem I see is working on the disparate lists and switching between them. Personally, I prefer system then game. Others prefer genre then game, ignoring segregation by system.

What would be your ideal way to switch between "kid list" and others? What other types of lists do you imagine? Should there be an age group flag in the lists to programmatically filter?

Regards,
Joseph

I don't mind separating out all of the games that I find friendly for my own kids, and I have a list like that which I have created.  It is easy to switch to that list once Cabrio is up and running, but Cabrio starts in my ALL list, and I'd like it to boot up into the KID'S list (so that my kids can turn on the machine, and it starts up directly into a list of games that they can easily play).

The same goes for another cabinet that is at my office  -  I would like for it to boot up into an essential playlist that I've made, instead of the "ALL" list as default.  I want all of the games on there, since I poke around to try out new ones from time to time, but I want my co-workers (who are like children) to be able to just turn on the cabinet, and automagically have it open a specific list of games (rather than "ALL").

Thanks for any help!!
-Ben

PS: Also I should note that I am running Cabrio on Windows, and I have ZERO (0) programming skills.  I sincerely appreciate everything that you all are doing to create and improve this great front-end!!
