hello everyone,
so a couple of us met yesterday and one of the things that came out of the meeting was that we picked a time, date and text for the beginning of our reading group on organizing and crisis. the date is two thursdays from now, april 8, at our usual time and place, 2:30 pm in room 1091 (in back of the library). the text is "communique from an absent future" (link below), an analysis of the CA education crisis in the context of the global economic crisis and what social movements have looked like in similar situations elsewhere in recent years. a piece of writing which was very influential on the group of people who got the ball rolling with occupations and what not, some have even called it the "manifesto" of the radical student movement here. we will talk about what we think of "communique" and how it applies to our lives and activity.

hope to see you there,
jan

Great way to start it off.  I won't be able to make it: going to Denver.
