unfortunately i can't make it, but i hope it goes well! someone who does should post something about how it went and what we are planning to read for next week. there is the planet of slums text certainly. other things i would like to suggest for consideration would be 'the coming insurrection' and something from/about italy in the 70s, there is also a good, pretty short piece called 'crisis in california' by gifford hartman which gives some background to the situation in our state.
