Hey, thanks for reaching out.

I know it sounds simple, but it's often overlooked. Could you try restarting your device? If that doesn't help, try a quick clean reinstallation of the app. Just follow the steps here. Could you tell me if you are getting any error codes or error messages at all?

If you're still having trouble, could you let me know the exact version of Spotify and the exact version of the operating system you're running?

I'll see what I can suggest!

If you want to add a new device or domain, move the cursor using the arrow keys and position it after the text in the window. Then, begin typing
I'll help you skip the typing part, just copy and paste the following addresses there for Spotify
0.0.0.0 weblb-wg.gslb.spotify.com
0.0.0.0 prod.b.ssl.us-eu.fastlylb.net

I can't log in due to the proxy setting problem error code "30" I tried deleting the app removing all the files related to it through the hidden library and clear the cache but the problem isn't yet solved,, any help?

I have the exact same problem and can't log in. Same device, MacBook late 2017, and operating system. macOS Catalina V10.15.2. Premium Family Plan - Australia. I have removed the app, cleaned the caches, and reinstalled. My firewall isn't enabled.

I have some troubles about firewall, error code 30. Firstly, it begans because I couldn't listen songs because don't begin to play. I have already done everything, remove proxy, firewall, I have even change of network, and the problem remains. I 've read about try to enter on Spotify Web Player, and I can't. On the smartphone I don't have problems.

Hey @guantanamo,

Welcome to the Spotify Community and thanks for reaching out about this here.

It'd be great to try some trouble-shooting and see whether performing a clean reinstall of the app on your MacBook does the trick in this situation.

You can follow the steps which apply to your device and operating system featured in this Spotify Answer to try with this procedure.

Let us know how you get on. We'll look out for your reply!

In case none of this works for you, it would help if you could provide some additional information, so that our tech team can look into it. You'll find a template with all the necessary info required here under Report your issue.

I am having the exact same problem!! Prior to me doing a clean reinstall of the app today and updating it, I did not have this problem. I stopped using the app because it made my computer really slow and it wouldn't play the current song as of lately as to why I did the clean reinstall. I have tried the hosts troubleshooting and my firewall is set up so that spotify is not blocked.

I also tried to use the web player as it is a fast and easy alternative, but on chrome and microsoft edge I keep getting the ERR Connection with the proxy/firewall. In Firefox, the web player loads, but it won't play music and I cannot search anything.

I love spotify and it is a great music platform but the fact that there are countless threads about so many issues, there are still so many things that need to be RESOLVED !!! This issue is driving me nuts and their technical support is not hands on at all. If someone can help me please do.

I am also having the same issue. I have done all of the steps mentioned (three times now) and it is still giving me both error 30 when trying to login with my username & password and error 11 when trying to login using Facebook. I can use the web player (through Chrome) and login on with other devices.

After updating to Sonoma I now have two apps, Rstudio and Spotify, that won't open in sonoma on my backup of time machine. They start, but spotify opens a black screen window and Rstudio only shows the toolbar, no window.

I've been in contact with app support but no success there. I have reinstalled the apps clean and no success either. The support suggested if I had any firewall, cache or memory cleaning softwares that could cause the problem but I have not been able to find any such software. I run on intel macbook air 2020.

Here is the report, I chose "apps crasching" as report in EtreCheck. I ran spotify and Rstudio whilst generating the report. Other issues I have with the apps are that the "spotify helper" is using a lot of CPU, Rstudio must be forced quit to close.

Thank you. I ran a diagnostics test on RStudio through terminal. I hope I have censored any valuable data, but can you interpret this report as there are some errors within it? With spotify I don't know if there is any diagnostics test...

"Although RStudio does not require internet access, it does use a localhost connection to link your R session with the RStudio IDE. As a result, it is possible a (software-based) firewall, network setting, or antimalware program is blocking access to RStudio. If you have a firewall, HTTP or HTTPS proxy configured, add localhost and 127.0.0.1 to the list of approved Hosts and Domains."

I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, I'm not a native english speaker. No the apps are on the mac and I have reinstalled them before. However you got me thinking there so I cleaned out the apps once again and reinstalled them again. But no the problem still persists. This is how it looks when I open the app:

I only meant that I did a clean install of the OS Sonoma and then the apps worked, so the issue is not on the hardware or the OS system itself, it seems there is something in my time machine backup that when I got my stuff from there the problem occurs when running on OS Sonoma?

I get this error because there are no Apps in the directory R tries to load, no apps under my user (see pic). Instead the apps are at the harddrive /macintosh - see picture. "appar" = apps in swedish:

How To Fix Spotify Firewall Error On Your Mac. I'll make this simple, the only reason you cannot add programs to your mac is if you cannot be connected to the internet and if that's the case you will need a ethernet or wifi usb dongle or wifi router etc. This might be a very simple fix but without more details we cant help you beyond asking you to give us more info about your network setup Open Safari > Preferences > General > Privacy and Security > Content Blocker "Always ask." > Turn off Content Blocker. > Click OK

When this is done check your network connections and it should have worked. If you still cannot get the internet to work and have all the necessary network equipment it's time to get some help from somebody more knowledgable than me lol I use adobes flash-block to block most flash-content (not just spotify). You can set this one-to-one or site specific basis. Some websites with flash content you find annoying, others can still use the flash for their content but with less pop-up's and other annoyances.

You should be able to right click on your internet icon in your Apple menu and go to preferences and check it again in there. As far as firewalls go.I would not worry about spotify on your mac unless it is an issue.

There are tons of firewalls pre-installed on mac computers by default that are usually needed for various things anyway so if you're worried it's likely fine. ? Hi.e. Is anyone else experiencing spotify stopping on 10.6 High Sierra? It happens on all browsers but just tried chromium and this is what it says: "We've detected that you're running into some trouble connecting to this application. We'd like to point out that this is the first time we've launched this issue reporting tool for spotify and the rest of the web. We'll need you to fill out a form and add some logs.

I suspect this might because my internet firewall has blocked Spotify (it worked fine yesterday). The Spotify App is open in fullscreen mode with volume off and the volume control is at zero as well. Restarting the netbook takes the firewalls out for 30 seconds. As soon as the firewalls are removed, Spotify loads again.

I use a Netflix account. But for some reason, Spotify doesn't work on my mac. I'm guessing there is a simple way around this to allow Spotify through my firewall. What steps do I need to take in order to have Spotify work on my Mac? I have the Spotify app downloaded. I tried going to www.spotify.com and allowing it, but it didn't work.

There are a couple of things you may want to check: Make sure that your Spotify application is actually installed on your Mac. This happens automatically, but the application can fail silently if the installation does not complete successfully. (I also installed Spotify through Wine on my Ubuntu PC, but for some reason Wine did not want to install when I tried to install it a couple of days ago. I just wanted to check that the software was not completely gone. In order for this check to be successful, you will have to make sure you have your Spotify desktop icon visible in your task bar.)
If your Mac is connected to the Internet, you'll need to open your firewall for Spotify. Here's how to do that: Go to System Preferences > Network > Advanced. Select the "Manually manage connections" box. In the list of networks, select the one for your WiFi network. Turn on the "AirPort Security" checkbox if it is not already selected. Save the changes, close the dialog box, and you're done. To test whether or not Spotify works on your Mac, you can either: Run Spotify from your Mac. (If you want to do that, you should start Spotify using sudo, as Spotify by default doesn't run as the administrator.)
Visit in your browser. If you get a web page with the Spotify logo, then Spotify is working.
