We should be closing on our 1988 CR 38 XL in early June, and we are looking for some input on stern lettering size and spacing.  The seller currently has the name on each quarter and we may want to move it to the stern.  The boat is 4 1/2 hours away and I forgot to take measurements last time I was there.  For those of you who have the name place just under the backstay plate, what letter height and spacing are you using?

I should clarify that this is a five letter name, and if anyone has a transom width with this particular placing I should be able to take it from there.

Thanks!

I sent some pictures to the list separately from this thread.  Hope they help.

Mickey's measurement of 66 inches across is what we have as well.
Here's how our transom looked the day we put the letters on.

And then I decided it needed something more, so added a compass rose.  Here is what it looked like on our maiden sail.  The wreath is left from the launch party the night before.

The ladder and grab rail make it a bit of a challenge and they clutter up the stern.  We'll likely change it up again when we install a windvane.
