Clay,

I have a Forespar  50/50 telescopic pole on my CR42.  The extendable section is carbon fiber and the fixed section aluminum.  That saves weight at the end where it matters.

I always use it when running downwind. Rig it with its own fore and after guys. It was not cheap, but well worth it.
