Trying to tolerate the bullshit in this CalBike webinar, but just ran smack up against their commitment to "California's climate goals." Excuse me, but this is 2026.5 is it not? And this bunch is still not just drinking but profering this crap?
And they're committed to advancing the use of bicycles by all Californians? As in, whether they want that or not? Haven't they heard, if not seen directly for themselves,  that Californians don't want to "use" bicycles in their daily lives, because culturally they are overwhelmingly Exercise Averse?
That our collective values as shaped by marketing and advertising stress ease of use and convenience as the #1 quality-- openly stated or not--  for every good or service we select? And as we who choose to bicycle can attest, exercise and the acceptance of a degree of inconvenience is essential to a cycling lifestyle? These are facts. They are ignored by social engineers who believe that their vision for the rest of the population should be imposed for the betterment of the collective. Classic Socialist power move.
Pedestrian Space should be respected and pedal bicycling should be accommodated on our strrleets and roads. Ebikes and Emotos should be accommodated and segregated by speed and sold as age appropriate. Private passenger cars have to adjust to the use of a growing number of alt trans modes.  But we cannot align ourselves with socialist bullies.

Bring your questions about what we can do together to create a future full of bicycles.

Hello Steve -  This week I invite you to join me, CalBike Executive Director Kendra Ramsey, and members of the Board of Directors for A Future Full of Bicycles: CalBike’s Strategic Plan for 2030, a coalition webinar at noon on May 27 about the work ahead. Register now.

We will dive into CalBike’s 2030 Strategic Plan is a roadmap for the next chapter of bicycle advocacy in California: safer streets, stronger local movements, long-term funding, and a broader coalition for change. Leadership will share where CalBike is headed, what we believe this moment requires, and how our coalition can move together toward a California where bicycling is safe, joyful, and possible for everyone.

Together, we will take a look at our main priorities through 2030:

- Priority 1: Create a built environment where biking and walking are safe and accessible choices in all communities
- Priority 2. Secure long-term active transportation funding to support the mode shift required to meet California’s climate goals
- Priority 3. Strengthen the power of the active transportation movement in California
- Priority 4. Elect bike champions to public office and work in partnership with them to create a policy landscape that prioritizes bicycling
- Priority 5. Strengthen CalBike

As we often say, the most important word in our name is “Coalition” that means you, Steve. So please, bring your questions about what we can do together to create a future full of bicycles.

Register for the Webinar

See you there,
Kendra Ramsey
