Cities enacting rear tail light requirement for e-bikes - defying state law that only a reflector is required

The City of La Verne (California) +has adopted new regulations designed to improve safety for e-bike riders, pedestrians, and motorists.

Key provisions include:

During the hours of darkness, e-bikes may only be operated by riders 16 years of age or older.

When riding at night, e-bikes must be equipped with:

A front white light

A rear red light (solid or flashing)
