Why are we not getting the names of the victims who died

There was a victim in Carlsbad and one in Escondido.. It is possible these are friends of the community. By now the families have been notified.. Why are some names released within days and the others not at all?

OC Coroner used to put out a press release naming all identified dead - but no longer does.
Press just spit out vague details and never follow up.
Need to rake through Nextdoor and Facebook posts to get names of crash fatalities more often than not.
No unhoused person ever gets named in press.

Is it likely they were unhoused if no names? On cyclist killed by a motorcycle in a chase by state Parks cops. The injured motorcyclist and passenger names were given. This was Carlsbad
The other 73 year old cyclist killed in the bike lane. By same direction motorist in Escondido. On a route used by all cyclists. No name.

No - my point is that the press rarely get a name, rarely do a followup “dead cyclist identified” article, and so you have to rake through Nextdoor and Facebook posts to get a name.
I am sure it keeps ‘ambulance chasers’ at bay and provides some privacy to the family of the deceased -
The unhoused reference is just that we almost never get their names.
An unusual "killed during police pursuit” will certainly gets a lot more detail & names than ‘just’ another random cyclist getting killed in a bike lane.
