Trusting the paint instead of controlling the lane
Probably promoted DZBL but his death will feed calls for parking separated cycle tracks with less consequential visibility at every corner and driveway
No one says REMOVE DZBLs or teaches people to safely avoid the door zone when riding near parked cars.

That street looks like the usual 7’ parking, 5’ BL, 10’ general traffic lane.
Here’s something he co-authored back in 2016:
Seems that bike share and bicycle parking were really his specialty, not bike lane design.
Of course, DZBLs and Chicago go back a long ways:
