I've just learned that yesterday, SB 1167, Senator Catherine
Blakespear’s e-bike consumer protection bill, has been placed on the
Assembly Appropriations suspense file.

AI sez: The California Assembly Suspense File is a holding place in the
Assembly Appropriations Committee for bills with a fiscal impact of
$150,000 or more. Hundreds of costly or complex bills face rapid,
behind-the-scenes decisions here where they are either passed or killed
without public testimony.

Current data to hand is that SB 1167 is likely to make it through Appropriations. Senator Blakespear has been doing a lot of work behind the scenes to make sure it comes off the suspense file, and amendments were already taken, so DMV is no longer opposed to it.

Best, Damian
