Dear cycling enthusiasts,
I wanted to follow up on the California cycling survey I shared with you recently - Canyon's comprehensive study that reveals interesting insights into the Golden State's cycling culture.
As a quick reminder, the key findings from over 1,000 California residents include:
Recreation-first culture: 70% cycle for fitness/exercise, only 11% for commuting
Untapped potential: Just 10% ride daily despite 63.5% bike ownership
Infrastructure gap: 30% cite inadequate bike lanes as primary barrier to cycling more
Gender safety divide: Men feel significantly safer cycling than women (73% vs 59%)
The study highlights California's unique recreation-first cycling approach and reveals significant opportunities for expanding practical transportation use.
