Safety and Mobility Improvements
Projects on Westwood Blvd and Ohio Ave
The Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) is moving forward with two upcoming projects on Ohio Avenue and Westwood Boulevard to enhance bicycle and pedestrian safety.
Ohio Avenue serves as an important neighborhood corridor linking Westwood, Santa Monica, and West LA. It is also a preferred route for cyclists, being the only East/West street in the area without on- or off-ramps to the I-405 freeway. Planned improvements to increase safety and mobility along Ohio Avenue include: shortening pedestrian crossing distances, installing continuous two-way protected bike lanes and enhancing ADA-accessible ramps.
Westwood Boulevard is another critical connection, linking UCLA with major transit networks across the city. LADOT is seeking community input to better understand safety concerns, accessibility needs, and ideas for improving how the street serves all users. Based on this feedback, the department will launch the next phase of the project to upgrade infrastructure.
