Online e-Bike Buyers Guide & Safety Primer: Learn what to look for and how to be safe
It’s back-to-school season, and e-bikes are on the minds of many families. Join our free online discussion designed to help parents and riders better understand e-bike safety, current laws, rules of the road and best practices for commuting.
In this session, you’ll learn:
  • What qualifies as a legal - and illegal e-bike
  • Who can ride what
  • Rules of the road and school commute tips
  • Safety essentials and purchasing recommendations
  • How to choose the right e-bike for your needs
This primer is perfect for parents, students, or anyone curious about e-bikes.

Community E-Bike Skills Workshop

Be ready to safely ride to your NMUSD school
The Costa Mesa Bicycle Safety Education Program invites all NMUSD students to join us for a free, hands-on Community E-Bike Skills Workshop! This event will help build confidence and knowledge for safe e-bike riding for riders of all skill levels.
What to Expect
  • Bike handling and safety courses
  • FREE bike helmets (while supplies last)
  • FREE bike tune-ups
  • On-bike practice and demos
  • Borrow a demo bike if you don’t have one or bring your own
  • e-Bike demos
All NMUSD students are welcome. This is a great opportunity to sharpen your riding skills, learn safe cycling rules of the road, and demo an e-bike. Hosted in partnership with the City of Costa Mesa and Newport-Mesa Unified School District.

Better Bike Share Group Ride

August 8th: 10am-12pm
Are you bike share curious? Join us for a community ride to explore the sites and sounds of South L.A.
This free group ride will include the opportunity to try Metro Bike Share Bikes for those 16 years and older  (Metro will provide helmets for bike share users). Other riders are welcome to join on their own bikes. After a brief safety discussion and introduction to Bike Share and the upcoming program expansion, we will head out to explore the the community by bike.
If you are bringing your own bike, please be sure it's in good working order. Also, bring a helmet (required), water, sunscreen and snacks. This ride is open to all but is not appropriate for kids on training wheels, balance bikes or tricycles.

Get Ready for CicLAvia with a free tuneup!
Need a quick tune-up? Hoping to get rolling before CicLAvia August 16? Bring your bike to the Culver-Palms YMCA on Saturday August 10 and let our technicians work their magic:
  • Flat tire fixes
  • Brake and gear adjustments
  • Chain cleaning
Repairs will be done a first-come, first-served basis. Walk-ups are welcome but registered riders will be prioritized. Time slots are filling up fast so register today!

CicLAvia is Coming!

On Sunday, August 17, CicLAvia is back with another exciting open streets event, featuring a 6.75-mile car-free route connecting Downtown Culver City to Venice Beach.
For one day only, the streets will be open for people, inviting everyone to walk, bike, skate, scoot, and explore freely and safely at their own pace. So lace up those sneaks and pump up those tires and get ready for one of the biggest open streets events of the year!
