One of the issues that I don’t believe the article dealt with is that motor vehicle drivers face non-judicial penalties that don’t apply to e-bikers, bicyclists, and pedestrians. Because drivers are licensed and have insurance requirements, driving violations can lead to extra expense and denial of driving privileges. Any critique of the relative punishment for violations needs to address the whole picture.
