FYI. Maybe useful info though Carter needs to hear the problems associated with calling Cycle Tracks "Protected Bike Lanes".

Hi Jim--  The topic of my upcoming free group training is probably old hat to you, but I thought you might know some people who might be interested. The topic is: "How to win bigger by bridging the local and state-wide organizing gap." The details and registration link are here. Registration is free and open to all, so please feel free to forward it around to folks who might be interested!

The training will cover:
  • Creating mutually reinforcing campaigns across levels of government
  • How to navigate potentially complex dynamics with your state/local counterparts
  • Coordinating "inside" and "outside" game to bridge the gap between the people on the streets and the conversations in the halls of power
  • Funding, supporter lists, relationships and other potentially delicate conversations
In the meantime, ...

Regards,

Hi Jim,

Thank you for the work you're doing to make your community safer for everyone to get around! I've been putting on a series of bike advocacy trainings which I thought some of your community members might be interested in. The first was "How to get a bike lane in your community," the second was "How to Overcome the Opposition and Win a Bike Lane" and next week is the third in the series: "A beginner's guide to getting a protected bike lane in your community".

Bike advocacy organizations often are short-staffed and have far too much on their plate, my hope is to train & empower more volunteers and bike fans to be able to step up and take on more leadership on campaigns in their community. If you know anyone who you think might be interested, please forward them the invite and it'd be a big help if you included a mention of it in your newsletter or social media! (If you're curious to see where folks have been tuning in from, check out the map!

For references-- you can view coverage of my trainings on KPFA discussing, on Streetsblog here and here too. .You can see a brief review from the Marin County Bicycle Coalition Policy & Planning Director here and you can view a review from the Advocacy Director of Bike East Bay on my website.

Let me know if you have any questions and I'll be happy to help.

Sincerely,
