No matter how many bike lane signs Caltrans or cities put up, or what the MUTCD says, bike lanes are not part of the roadway if they are separated bikeways instead.

Imagine a roadway with a ladder casually inserted into it so a city worker could wrap holiday lights around trees.

I shamed the worker into moving the ladder. There was no warning it was there except the skinny little orange traffic delinator he placed at the base of the ladder.
