Oregon - where right hooks at bike lanes are common because turning vehicles MUST turn from outside the bike lane…

The eBikes pictured in the article are already outside the power and speed limits of electric bicycles… 
just require a VIN and registration of those vehicles and stop letting anyone drive them without the proper license.

Both articles have the same problem of not differentiating legal electric bicycles from all eBikes...

Note the youth in the photo is DRIVING a RadRunner2 Electric Utility Bike.

The sellers claim it is a Class 2 electric bicycle, but with a 750 watt hub drive, it is not a legal electric bicycle under California law.

He also is driving with earbuds in.

"Do-something syndrome" in effect in a Florida town after a 12 year old on a e-bike and a 66 year old on a bicycle collided resulting in the fatality of the 66 year old.

California law now says 750 is OK - not over. Used to be Less than, now 750 or less.

I still call the RadRunner2 a Moped as it can go 24.9 mph (40 kph) but is tuned down to 20 mph for sale in California as a "Class 2 electric bicycle"; 
of course anyone can adjust the settings and bump it back up to 25…
