Mud is a mixture of silt, clay, and water. Silt and clay are fine rock fragments. Mud can dry out, forming hard cakes that appear rocklike. However, it takes long periods of geologic time for dried mud to harden (lithify) into solid sedimentary rock such as shale.

Elementary students observe and classify objects and materials based on their properties. Students should have opportunities to become familiar with the variety of objects and materials in their local environment, including rocks and objects made from rocks. At this level, students begin to understand that rocks can come in natural forms and that rocks are considered natural resources that can be cut, shaped, and polished by humans for various uses. They begin to understand how some objects and materials exist naturally and others are made by humans combining materials from the environment in new ways, based on the properties of the materials.

Students investigate how Earth materials such as rocks are formed. They develop an understanding of how rocks are formed through long-term geologic processes, resulting in a variety of sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks. Students can begin to trace the composition of rocks and minerals back to the geologic processes that formed them. They can contrast this formation with shortterm human processes developed through engineering design that result in rocklike materials such as cement. In their study of natural resources, they recognize that rock is a natural resource that can be reshaped by humans without changing its composition or can be crushed and combined with other materials to form a new, hard material.

Students at this level refine their understanding of the geologic processes that form rocks and the chemical composition and origin of minerals that make up rocks. They have a greater awareness of the long-term, geologic processes that form rocks. They learn about chemical processes engineered by humans, which result in rocklike mixtures such as asphalt, concrete, and cement. In biology, they recognize living processes that form hard, rocklike casings such as coral and mollusk shells and link this to the idea of biogeochemical cycles. At this level, combined with their knowledge of chemistry, students have greater familiarity with synthetically produced materials and are more apt to differentiate them from materials produced through geologic processes.

An accompanying music video for "Heart Attack" was directed by Chris Applebaum and was premiered through Vevo on April 9, 2013. Lovato has performed the track on several television programs and has also included the song on the setlists for The Neon Lights Tour, Demi World Tour, Future Now Tour, Tell Me You Love Me World Tour, and Holy Fvck Tour. A re-recorded rock version was released on March 24, 2023, and included on her first remix album titled Revamped.

In January 2022, Lovato held a "funeral" for her pop music ahead of the release of her eighth studio album Holy Fvck in August of that year.[116] The album, which embraced a heavier rock sound that departed from the pop sound of Lovato's previous releases, was supported by the Holy Fvck Tour. The setlist included several rock versions of her older pop songs, including "Heart Attack".[117]

On March 20, 2023, Lovato announced via social media that she would release a studio recording of the rock version of "Heart Attack" to mark the song's 10th anniversary.[118] It was released digitally on March 24, 2023.[119]

"Heart Attack (Rock Version)" was produced by Warren "Oak" Felder, a frequent collaborator of Lovato who produced the majority of Holy Fvck, and Mitch Allan, who co-produced the original version.[120] Felder explained that he initially found it challenging to remake "Heart Attack" because he "loved" the original, saying that "you just can't get the original version outta your head".[121] Lovato re-recorded her vocals; Felder stated that "Demi's voice now is a witness and testament to the things that she's been through as a person".[121] He added that "there is a lot more experience and understanding of those emotions behind the way that she's singing it now" and that this, along with listening to Lovato's song "La La Land" from her debut album Don't Forget (2008), helped him create a new rock production for "Heart Attack".[121]

The award-winning singer's 10-track album features rock versions of her most famous past hits, including \"Heart Attack,\" \"Sorry Not Sorry,\" \"Confident,\" \"Cool For The Summer,\" \"Tell Me You Love Me\" and more.

Lovato's statement continued, \"Creating this project has been incredibly fun and allowed me to express my passion for rock music in a new way, and I feel so much closer to my older music because of it.\"

With all-new vocals and production, the 10-track album "Revamped" sees Demi reimagine her career-defining songs with a fresh perspective that reflects her current artistic vision. The re-recorded music showcases Demi's artistic growth and versatility, as she seamlessly evolves her songs from pop to rock while maintaining her signature powerhouse vocals. The album is now available to pre-order and pre-save.

Speaking on the new song, Demi said: "Slash is an iconic artist who I've been a fan of for years, it's an absolute honor to have such a legend like him on the rock version of 'Sorry Not Sorry'." Demi continued, "With 'Revamped', I wanted to pay homage to the songs that resonated the most with fans and played a big role in my career by breathing an exciting new life into them. Creating this project has been incredibly fun and allowed me to express my passion for rock music in a new way, and I feel so much closer to my older music because of it. I can't wait for everyone to hear more!"

Demi first performed rock versions of some of the songs featured on "Revamped" on her 2022 "Holy Fvck" tour, which was in support of her album of the same name. Demi's all-female band on the "Holy Fvck" tour also included Nita Strauss, one of rock music's most admired guitarists. The critically acclaimed "Holy Fvck", which featured singles "29", "Substance" and "Skin Of My Teeth", saw Demi return to her rock and pop-punk roots and included features from Yungblud, ROYAL & THE SERPENT and DEAD SARA. The album debuted at No. 1 on three separate Billboard charts: Top Rock & Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums, and Top Alternative Albums, and earned her a 2023 GLAAD Media Award nomination for Outstanding Music Artist.

With nearly 30 billion streams earned worldwide, Demi has captivated audiences with her renowned powerhouse vocals and illustrious songwriting. Demi has released eight studio albums, all of which debuted in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 and four which boast over one billion streams on Spotify. Her most recent album, "Holy Fvck" (2022),is a sonic journey grounded in Demi's rock and pop-punk roots that illustrates an earnest yet tongue-in-cheek retrospective of her life experiences and opened to widespread acclaim from both critics and fans. The album was hailed as "the best we've heard from Lovato to date" (Variety) and was described as "fiery album filled with passion, thoughtful reflection, and a dash of good ol' fashioned rage" (Vogue). The album also marked Demi's eighth consecutive Top 10 album on the Billboard 200 and landed in the Top 5 of the Top Album Sales chart.

During a performance where the Coaches sang a medley of each other's hits, Shelton's signature twang and Shakira's iconic tone took "Whenever, Wherever" to new, rock-and-roll heights. To shake things up even further, some electrifying guitars were brought into the mix to create something truly memorable.

Lovato will include "Confident (Rock Version)" and other rock versions of their songs, including "Sorry Not Sorry," on the forthcoming album Revamped. The album is scheduled for release Sept. 15.

Rock won the WWE Championship in a stellar triple threat match over The Undertaker and Kurt Angle at Vengeance. Brock Lesnar benefited from the most as Rock put him over cleanly before leaving again for Hollywood. Rock clearly cared about the future of the company.

Demi Lovato has returned with a blistering new rock version of one of her biggest hits. On Thursday, May 25th, the singer shared the official "Cool for the Summer (Rock Version)" with fans who have been eating up her rock era since it launched in 2022.

"Cool for the Summer" marks the second time Demi has reimaged one of her classic pop hits as something that could fit in on their most recent album HOLY FVCK. In March, Demi celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the anthem "Heart Attack," which was released in 2013, by sharing an official recording of the rock version.

Earlier this year, Demi released another rock anthem for the Scream VI soundtrack called "Still Alive." In the accompanying music video, Demi goest "to hell and back" as she faces off against the iconic horror movie villain, begging, "Give me something to sink all my teeth in. Eat the devil and spit out my demons."

We've picked out 40 of the biggest rock acts covered by Loudwire, scanned over their recorded and live histories and offered our takes on the best cover song for each of these bands. For some, the picks were quite simple given the immense popularity of one cover or the lack of depth in a band's covers catalog. For others, there are some that will likely be the source of great debate with bands offering proper respects to more than one song in equally beloved fashion.
