Dear CABank,
Susanne Miyata of Aichi Shukutoku University in Nagoya has contributed a video corpus of Japanese group conversations to CABank. The data are videotaped conversations (6 conversations with a group of 4 female students, 6 with 4 male students, and
6 conversations with 2 male and 2 female students). The database is the product of six graduation thesis' on gender differences
in students' group talk. Each conversation lasted between 12 and 35 minutes (avg. 25 minutes; 15,449 utterances)
resulting in an overall time of 7 hours and 30 minutes. The corpus is video-linked and has morphological
tiers and kanakanji tiers. It is not yet analyzed using CA principles and codes, but it would be a good target for someone who would like to further elaborate it in that way. Many thanks to Susanne for these interesting data.

Brian, this is great. I will be in Japan from Feb 18-27 and this new piece
comes very handy.

I wonder whether you could upload two chatfiles and data to the 'example'
collection on the CAbank. They are the files I plan to use in my lectures.

I have as well a new sound file for one of the Arun transcriptions. The one
on the net is the wrong file.

Where should I upload the stuff?

I have quite a load of transcribed data now to get ready. I hope to have
time in March to get the stuff ready. It has been quite desastrous here -
workwise.

Hope you are fine, say hi

/J
