I've lost track of the official schedule, but I do need to test my new shoes before the big week-end.

I'd love to do hiking run this weekend!

Sat or Sun?

Anyone want to take a second run at the Shingle Mill hike? (A group of us wimped out due to time constraints, but I'd like to train for long hikes, and it was a beautiful area.)

I was thinking Sweeney Ridge saturday morning as it fits with my day if i go early enough (like 9am).
It sounds beautiful, short and just strenuous enough for shoe/backpack load testing.

Or for a long one I could do Sunday maybe!

I could possibly do either of these, 20% chance. Joey and Katie are visiting, and running the half marathon on Sunday morning. That leaves my schedule... basically just confusing! But, I'd enjoy there being a hike for me to at least consider joining.

Sweeney Ridge looks really pretty! Mountain view hikers: carpool interest? (Also, I'm okay with 9am.)

I'm in for either day.  Sweeney Ridge sounds fun - I've never been there.

I have a Saturday commitment to drive people to the airport for an 8:10 flight, which means I should be back home by 8 most likely. This is probably compatible with a 9am Saturday hike. Also, I like carpools.

Too bad it doesn't make sense to go there straight from the airport...

More details on Sweeny Ridge:

It looks quick and easy, I'd be up for that.

I'd also be up for something more strenuous (Half Dome is coming up
quickly!), but what are ressources for finding hikes?

Mel and I like the Bay Area Hiker site:

http://www.bahiker.com/

It's low tech, but it has a nice Google map, and the author additionally lists hikes by difficulty:

Ah i had never seen the home page of bahiker, the map is indeed good! (and lacking in the other pages..)

So let's meet at 9am at the  Sweeney Ridge trailhead!
I'd love to carpool but going directly to a lunch afterwards so I have to ride alone.

Getting there:
From Interstate 280 in San Mateo County, exit Sneath Lane (exit 43b). Drive west about 2 miles to the trailhead at the end of the road.

Get driving or public transit directions from Transit and Trails:
http://www.transitandtrails.org/trailheads/401

GPS Coordinates* for Trailhead
:
Latitude 37°37'9.54"N
Longitude 122°27'14.75"W
(* based on Google Earth data, shown as degrees, minutes, seconds)

And of course remember to get enough water, sunscreen, and don't forget the first rule of hiking: having fun!

Directly to lunch with no shower after the hike? :)
