Dear CAADRIA community,
The Department of Architecture at NUS invites applications for one Tenure Track position in Architecture and Technology at the rank of Assistant Professor.
The Department of Architecture in the College of Design and Engineering, National University of Singapore, is ranked among the top 10 in the world, and Asia’s best in Architecture/Built Environment, by the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings (2025). It offers the professionally accredited Master of Architecture programme as well as a range of graduate and undergraduate programmes in related fields such as urban planning and design, architectural conservation and landscape architecture. The faculty is correspondingly diverse and international. The Department offers internationally competitive remuneration, generous employment benefits as well as access to research funding for both junior and senior academics. International applicants will also receive subsidised housing at Kent Vale, a faculty residence on the NUS campus.
The Technologies Cluster at the Department of Architecture seeks highly qualified applicants actively engaged in interdisciplinary research focused on, but not limited to, one or more of the following themes:
(1) Architectural materials and construction
(2) Computational thinking and parametric modelling
The successful candidate is expected to teach one or more core courses, particularly in areas related to the above themes. The candidate should also be interested in running a design studio in an interdisciplinary setting.
The candidate is expected to develop an interdisciplinary research agenda adopting and developing advanced technological, computational and/or material approaches to address pressing challenges to the built environment, particularly within Asia. They are strongly encouraged to pursue collaborative research in the context of the College of Design and Engineering as well as with industry partners and government agencies within and beyond Singapore.
The candidate should possess a Ph.D. degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Engineering or related disciplines, as well as requisite experience and credentials suitable for full-time tenure-track appointments in NUS. Alternatively, applicants can express their preference for a practice-track position if they can demonstrate strong professional experience in the relevant fields. For these applicants, they should submit a portfolio showing major projects and other forms of practice in addition to other requirements. They should also hold a relevant graduate degree (Master or above) by the time of appointment.
Kind regards,
Rudi Stouffs
