I need some education here-I am confused as to whom needs to be certified to work as a drug and alcohol counselor in CA. I am employed at a licensed IOP and am the only employee of 4 counselors that is certified (CAADE).
What does this mean to the Director of the program? He has been in this line of work for 20 years-he is grandfathered in? Would he have to take an exam? (I can't see him doing that)
I do know that when he has an annual licensing audit, my certificate hangs proudly on his wall of the office!
The other counselors are not MFT's LCSW's.
