Addiction-Free Pain Management® Certification Skills Training (20
CEs)
Addiction-Free Pain Management®
Healthcare professionals as well as mental health and addiction
treatment providers are on the front line to accurately assess,
intervene upon and develop appropriate treatment plans for the
impaired patient with a chronic pain condition. This can become more
difficult when prescription drug abuse/addiction is present. For
years the numbers of people experiencing chronic pain and coexisting
psychological disorders including addiction have been increasing
significantly. According to research published in Pain Physician
Journal (2006), 90 percent of people in the US receiving treatment for
pain management are prescribed opiate medication. Of
that number 9 percent to 41 percent had opiate abuse/addiction
problems.

Please join Dr. Stephen Grinstead, Developer of the APM™ Treatment
System, to learn the skills that are vital to working with these
clients, to increase your understanding, empathy and compassion for
this greatly underserved population, as well as to improve your
marketability in the treatment industry.

Addiction-Free Pain Management® Skills
Training February 24-26, 2011 – $425 (Register by Jan. 15th – $395)
The Addiction Free Pain Management® (APM) 20 CE Hour Certification
training is
designed to teach the skills needed to successfully work with people
with chronic pain
and potential or actual addictive disorders. The APM™ Treatment System
is a strategic
and systematic clinical training process that successfully addresses
the challenges of
addictive disorders and those associated with pain disorders called
the Addiction-Pain
Syndrome™. This syndrome produces an outcome where the combined action
is
greater than the sum of the effects of each set of problems.
You will be trained to implement the three core components of APM™:
(a) Core Clinical
Components; (b) Medication Management Planning; and (c)
Nonpharmacological
Interventions. The above tasks will be accomplished using a
combination of lectures,
discussions, demonstrations, as well as dyad and small group
experiential exercises.
After the training you can apply for the optional Competency
Certification. You can earn
this credential by completing the training and submitting an APM™
Certification Portfolio
Package within 120 days of the training along with a $95.00 Portfolio
Review Fee. For
more information about the benefits of completing the Competency
Certification, please
