I am very pleased to present Disaster Forum 2000 - a conference for anyone
who has an interest or a role in disaster preparation, response, recovery
or mitigation.

Following the overwhelming success of Disaster Forum '98, it became
readily apparent there was a desire for future forums where professionals,
of many disciplines, from across Canada and beyond could come together to
share their experiences and perspectives on emergency planning and
disaster management, particularly at a community level.

Disaster Forum 2000 promises to be equally exciting for delegates with an
impressive group of renowned keynote speakers and a multitude of break out
and plenary sessions representing the many disciplines at the forum. A
great deal of effort has resulted in what should prove to be an
outstanding conference, full of opportunities for learning, sharing and
networking.

Delegates will have access to workshops and information sessions presented
by leading experts in the fields of disaster mitigation, planning,
response, recovery, technology, telecommunications and crisis
communications. There will be opportunities for sharing information on
previous events and lessons learned as well as looking ahead to the trends
and issues that will face us all in the coming years. Register early as we
are limited to 350 delegates for this exciting conference.

Please visit our website at http://www.edmc.net/disaster to learn more
about this exciting conference.

I look forward to meeting you in Edmonton, November 1-4, for Disaster
Forum 2000!

Gary Redmond, President
