In this wonderful time of the year let us spend some time exploring the ever interesting topic on Government Accounting in India. The Government of India functions run with the help of more than 4 million bureaucrats. A study on the accounting system of the Government of India is undoubtedly a herculean task. A small peek into the world of changes in the system of accounting in the governmental institutions is sure to change the way we understand them and pave ideas for better professional opportunities.

Government Accounting is Special!! It is special because the objectives to which accounting reports to differ significantly from that for which generally accepted accounting practice has been developed for in the private (business) sector; further the usage of the results of accounting processes of government differs significantly from the use thereof in the private sector.

I have prepared a small write up on “A Study on Government Accounting in India - Some Recent Developments”. The write aims at offering an introduction to the organizational setup, system of accounting, the accounting process, accounting standards and the various related information on Government Accounting.
