Hello all,

It has been a while since I have posted here, but as we accelerate development again, and get ready for producing the first pre-production machines in early 2018, it makes sense for us to resurrect this list, and use it as a place of coordination, and for people to introduce themselves, if they have not yet done so, and explain their backgrounds, and what skills/interests etc they wish to bring to the table.

Paul.

Just a short ping to say I'm still around and still enjoy keeping tabs on how this project is progressing. If I ever get a window of time within my work/life to dabble some more with this project, would love to.

I've enjoyed your latest blog posts and updates, looks like there's a lot of wind in your sails now. All the best with this project in 2018! :-)

"CasaDeRobison" here. Just pinging to say "here I am" and "how can I help"? Which is not as altruistic of a question as it might sound. Am interested in learning about HDL and am interested in 8-bit Commodores and Mega65 sounds awesome. :)

Hi Guys,

My name is Holger and I am really excited about the Mega65 project! I grew up with a Commodore 64 and learned programming on it. First basic and then of course 6502 assembly. Still a C128D is on my desk right next to me while I am typing. My love for the old 8 Bit systems and vintage computers in general has never ended. The C128D is surrounded by a collection of other 8 and 16 Bit classics. But the AMIGA's, Apple's and Atari's not getting that much attention.

I live in Sydney and moved from Germany to here about 4 years ago, with a 6 year stop in Malaysia in between. My coding got a bit rusty but I would love to help with some smaller stuff (examples/tests). Besides Basic and Assembly I bring in some C skills. I also want to help with the German translation of the documentation. Time is limited but happy to sacrifice a share of my freetime.

Holger

Hello Holger

Thanks for your kind offers of assistance.

I am sure there are quite a few things that you could help with, both generating English and German material.

What I am keen to develop at the moment is the material around the MEGA BASIC work that I have started on, so that we have really nice and easy to follow material for folks to work from.  Daniel is also doing some of this, and I am of course doing some of it as well.

Do you have a Nexys4 board that you are able to use for testing? This will be the best option if you are able to arrange it, so that we can be sure that code samples work on actual hardware, rather than just the Xemu emulator.

Also, if you want to help work on the BASIC, that would be welcome, as would working on automated tests. In fact, there is a half-finished VIC-II test program I started a while back, that it would be good to continue with.

Paul.

Hi everyone... just wanted to introduce myself :) My name's Stephan, and around 1995 I was the proud owner of one of the original C65 development prototypes. Back then I did some coding on it, for example, the border demo mentioned on http://www.zimmers.net/anonftp/pub/cbm/c65/ was written by me, and there should also be a plasma generator demo floating around somewhere.

By profession I'm a senior software developer for the AppGuys in Cologne, and prior to that I was CTO of a small but nice games software company who did some successful pirate-themed turn based games (astonishingly, the website still does exist: https://unitedtoy.com).

Back in '95 I had started writing a role playing game for the C65, kind of a "Phantasie" clone, only with more story and more content. But I quickly grew tired of it because of that particular system's numerous quirks... and then one thing led to another and I sold my C65. Definitely one of the bigger mistakes in my life ;-)

So, long story short. I'd be very interested in participating and coding some cool stuf for the Mega65, and picking up where I left off :)

Kind regards,
Stephan

Hello,

Maybe it would be interesting to revive making that game?  The MEGA65 has most of the annoying quirks of the C65 resolved -- or at least, I think so ;) It would be interesting to see how you find the difference.  Or is there something else that you would especially like to make?
