Curious:

WTF is a 'CTC' ?

Also curious: does this list have a policy re: solicitations for employees/employment?

“Cost To Company” (for -12, you can come work for me if you promise not to break anything :-))

AFAIK, on most lists it is considered polite to at least preface the subject with [JOB] when you post a job offer, this allows anyone to filter those messages out if he/she wishes to…

Yeah, we enforce the [JOB] prefix on the subject line for the user groups/community mailing lists that I run too. Would be a good policy for this one as well, I'd think.

Re: CTC, really "Cost to Company"? I've honestly never heard that term though I admit to having my interest piqued by whatever the latest recruiter-derived nonsensical candidate rating scale ideas are out there.

How would anyone ever derive that value (meaningfully)? Wouldn't I want to put "-1000" or "-1,000,000" implying that my BTC (Benefit To Company) is +1,000,000? Seems kinda like "Please rate yourself on a scale of negative infinity to positive infinity" to me :)

Self-rating scales always seem inherently baseless to me so I'm predisposed not to place weight behind them personally, but its an interesting (if deeply flawed) idea, I suppose.

Sorry for not being clear… You’re expected to include a currency :-)

It’s basically your salary (Current and Expected, see?) including benefits, taxes etc

So I take it's a consensus that we're banning job postings that don't
have the [JOB] prefix? I ask because it's me or Eric that do the
moderation for this group.

I'm fine either way.

ROFL -- that's a whole other thing (of course) than I took from your initial reply :)

I can see that (sort of) makes more sense now, but I'm still left wondering how the (initial) reply suggested that his current CTC was *negative* 12 or that his expected CTC was 'none' (though I guess perhaps in this context 'none' could be taken to mean "I'm open to negotiation" rather than "I expect no compensation from you should I be selected for the position" :)

In any case, this thread is now horribly OT so in the interests of not annoying the rest of the group (too late! <g>) I'll just drop this for now.

Thanks for the info though -- you learn something new everyday~!
