Hi mvc community !

I'm here to present a new project of mine, called "mvc project awesome"
it's a collection of mvc helpers which makes it very easy to construct rich AJAX UI
and a demo project which also shows some good stuff (generic crud controller)

the project is hosted here:
http://awesome.codeplex.com/

it has a live demo (which you can download)
http://mrgsp.md:8080/awesome/

and a video demo:
http://vimeo.com/15901296

Cheers,

Omu

Is there a nupack for it?

Could be, although I am more likely to try out a nupack verus go download some helpers from a site and get a project setup. I simply don't have the spare time.

@Eric Hexter I'm not sure if it is possible to use it at this moment with nupack

besides the dll, it also requires

a folder with shared views to be copied into the shared folder
(something like EditorTemplates)
and
jQuery, jQueryUI (js/css), jquery.form, jquery.validate, jquery.livequery

also helpers like Lookup and AjaxDropdown require a controller to be
created (according to some conventions)
(views get data via ajax from these controllers)

the server is in my local network,
I don't know the quality of the link between my ISP (Country: Moldova)
and each of your computer, but most of people don't complain, depends
also on your geographic position, I think

On my side, the demo is working pretty fast (over the internet).

I don't normally comment here, but this is the second time I see odd criticisms, without much supportive argument (first time was someone complainng that this project is just another javascript gimick - don't remember the exact words from the original poster).

Now, if you find it slow or fast... provide some hard evidence, like some stress tests, and show us some data (like how many ms to load this etc). I mean you can even do this in Chrome that tells you the load time. Seriously people, being an engineer, we are better than this.

Is there a way to use the popups and modify the buttons at the bottom
that control the form (e.g. "Save" and "Cancel"). There are many
cases that we do not need one or both of the buttons at the bottom of
the popup. Changing the text of the buttons is great, but being able
to hide them if there is not a need for them is great as well.

We do a ton of jquery and mvc with our gaming app, and I've started
using this project b/c it's much cleaner to fire off modals this way,
but I'm not always doing a one-off form or the IPageable types. Some
of the modals load jquery tables, and do work within the modal and do
not need either button as they just confuse the user being there.

Overall, there are still more pros than cons as I'm sure this option
will be an easy add.

Thanks.

the primarily goal of the PopupForm was to put a form inside a popup,
refill it with with html if you return View
and close it when you return Content("ok") or JSON
in case you return JSON you must have a success function where you get the JSON

as I understood you need a simple modal (to get the result of an
Action inside the popup), something similar to js alert, with the
exception that you have html inside

could you tell me more concrete cases of what kind of modals you need

(at the moment you can't remove the buttons, but I can do this in the
next release)

for now I understood that you need to open a simple modal and put the
result of an action in it

@James Curtis the new version 1.4 has new helpers Html.MakePopup,
Html.PopupActionLink
which responsibility is to display the result of an action into a
popup, and you can specify how many buttons you need what they do

@Valentin

That's great. My temporary fix was to have CSS in my Dialog.master
file of <style> button { display: none; } </style> Having it "built
in" is much better as doing things like CSS hacks aren't always the
best.

Now, since we are now putting Project awesome through the ringer with
our site, SocialCow.com (gaming site). I have an issue on our "Play"
page which is the page that loads the Flash game. DIVs and Flash
files aren't very good bedfellows and having divs display over the
flash files are a challenge. While there is a "transparent" property
that can be set on the flash file to allow DIVs to show over it, when
we do this it breaks our "full screen" functionality.

So, our fix, including for the Facebook posting on that page, is to
CSS hack the Modal DIVs to have them display at the top of the page.
Unfortunately, there are no IDs of the DIVs being created to
manipulate their position on the page. Currently, you can grab our
modal and move it higher than the flash, but it's not really a
fix. :) 99% of the time the modal in the middle of the screen is
just fine. It's this 1% where we need to adjust the positioning of
the modal.

Any ideas? Again, thanks for the update w/ the buttons. :)

PS > if you want to see the MVC modal in action, you have to register
with the site (either Facebook connect or .NET register), go to the
game page, click the slider menu at the top, and then click "View all
Invites", etc. I'll attach an image when I can if that helps.

so, you need to specify where the dialog should be displayed ?

something like display the dialog at x = 35 and y = 123

like here for example I display it at the top: http://jsfiddle.net/CF9cu/

is this what you need, or is it something else ?
