I made some changes. There are more (highlighted) to discuss. Please check the dates, especially, and make any adjustments in WordPress!

Since our traffic spikes on the first day of publication, once we announce to listservs and the like, I'm proposing that we update our pages before publication of issue 3.
- Mission -- no changes necessary, but we could mention that we're open access someplace on this page
Let's consider adding another section about our interest in serving as a model of openness (open access, open content, open source).
- Editorial Committee -- list add Ken Varnum as issue 4 coordinating editor as well as Ron Peterson as issue 3 C.E.
Just listed Ken. Let's get in the habit of listing the CE's for the 2 issues in progress.
- Process and Structure -- This would be a good place to identify that we vote on articles twice. We could add details about commenting/voting on articles before publication. Jonathan, Eric, Ron, & Ken -- Could you check to see if there are other C.E. roles we'd like to highlight? This space serves two purposes--(1) telling our reading public and (2) reminding us.
Added to "All Editorial Committee members will:"
- Proofread and comment on draft articles edited by other Committee members.
Added to "The Coordinating Editor will:"
- Publicize Call for Submissions and Table of Contents.
- Set deadlines and help us keep them.
- Call for Submissions -- " Proposals received by Friday, June 13, 2008, will receive consideration for publication in issue 4, late September 2008." --> Change to the issue 5 proposal deadline. September 19th? (If we're publishing on 9/15, this would be the Friday after our publication date. Does that give us enough time?)]
"We publish quarterly in March, June, September, and December. Proposals
received by Friday, September 19, 2008, will receive consideration for
publication in issue 5, December 2008. Upon provisional acceptance,
authors will be given an article deadline, typically 6-8 weeks before
journal publication."
Please change the date if it's wrong! Just wanted to get something out there.
- Article Guidelines -- Add a section about Licensing, addressing CC-BY licensing of text, and expression our preference (but option) for having opensource licenses for code. Add details about what image sizes we require. Consider adding a rough timeline: annual publication dates (mid-March, mid-June, mid-September, mid-December); proposal deadlines roughly 4 months in advance; full draft due roughly 2 months (is that right?) before publication.
This needs updating. Can anyone take this on?
