I am searching for places and types of LEDs for the cockpit (Probably blue to reduce/minimize bugs).  Mainly while anchored for greater visibility.  Has anyone installed any?  If so, where?
I temporarily use cheap solar lamps but I end up buying new ones every year. Also, the cheap solar ones rarely last all night.   I would like to be able to simply turn on lights and "maybe" even incorporate light sensor for dawn/dusk operation if ashore after sundown.
Thoughts out there?

Thanks,

We have round inflatable solar lights with string tied on. Been using for 6 years . Still works great & I hang 1 from cup rack holder- over galley sink to do dishes in the dark.

Check into waterproof led strip lights. I used them in the cabin and engine compartment. Happy with the results

I am one with the view that in addition to the anchor light it is important to light up the cockpit while at anchor, especially if one is near the outside of, or relatively alone in an anchorage. I bought this light from Mantus https://www.mantusmarine.com/mantus-snap-on-light/ Although expensive let high quality and versatile. It has a low white or red light position as well as good high lighting options for using the cockpit in the evening/night. It clamps on any of the 1” or 3/4” tubes on the dodger and Bimini. The best feature is the easily recharged 2.7 AH battery.

Look for a rechargeable LED dome light. I bought this one a few years ago
and love it.

I just picked up a C320 a few days ago, and while not a permanent mounted solution, I transitioned a few of these over from my camping gear to the boat and they work great in the cockpit, the head, and anywhere else you need a little extra light. They are portable, collapsible, and hangable. Perfect ad-hoc solution for me:

Aaron, I picked up these exact lanterns about 6 years ago, mine are still
going strong. My only complaint is how blinding white the LED's are on
this. I lose all my night vision when in use.

I modified mine, and have been VERY happy with the result. Blick art
supply sells translucent film sheets in several colors. I bought red
sheets. I was able to open the lanterns up very easily, cut the red film
to the size of the lantern canister internally, and scotch taped the ends
of the film to make a cylinder that was a perfect fit to the inside of the
lamp canister. I bought a 4 pack of the lanterns, and only left one white
light, the other 3 have the red film in them. And now I no longer lose
night vision when in use.

They are all of that. I bought one to raise with my spinnaker halyard as an anchor light before I got a LED replacement in the mast. (The old anchor light bulb just used too much power.) However, this light uses AAA batteries (costly) and I stored it in a stern cockpit locker where the batteries corroded destroying the unit. Just not up to the marine environment. Maybe fine if you store it at home.

Another option is the red or yellow tape that Walmart sells to repair broken tail lights. It is cheap and easy to work with

Another solution which I find gives excellent lighting is to use automotive dome-light COB LED replacement units and rig them to a cigar lighter plug - I have a 12v outlet at the helm and I used a plastic bimini clip to hold the COB unit against the underside of the bimini. 120mAh draw means minimal concern about batteries.

Many rechargeable, dome type lights, have power-level switches for up to
three brightness levels. Many also have remotes. These would be my first
choice for convenience and versatility.
