1. Anchoring in areas where the wind often opposes the current
2. Anchoring in areas where there is large wind shifts
3. Anchoring a boat with a lot of windage for its size.
Gee, all three apply to me.
Kellets, Riding Weights, and Sentinels (all three names are used) seem to
work well. The KIWI Anchor Rider seems to be a great product but major
overkill compared to your suggestion which I am going to try.
I am going to do a variation of your system which is to put the mushroom
anchor on a shackle and lower it down the rode on its own line. That will
give me a bit more control of it's placement.
Thanks to all again.
Adam
I have a mark on my kellet line at 5 feet, and use a snap shackle to attach
it to the rode. Unless the depth is less, I let the kellet out until the
mark is at the surface of the water. You don't want it on the bottom, just
below the keel.
We do a bit of rafting and always deploy the kellet as anchor boat as rafts
have a way of behaving contrary to expectations.

Just out of courisity, the Kiwi Anchor Rider and other devices recommend to
minimize other issues such as yawing and pitching to lower the weight nearly
to the sea floor. Any opinions on that from what you have done?
Thanks again,
