[C320-list] Yanmar Transmission Oil

I could not find anything in my Yanmar manual regarding type and weight of oil in the transmission of my Yanmar 3GM30F.

I emailed the Mack Boring rep. who gave a presentation at the Catalina Rendezvous last summer. He said they recommend 15-40 weight oil. Has anybody received any info. from Yanmar or a Yanmar dealer technician regarding what they recommend? Motor oil or diesel?

The Kanzaki KM-series transmission (Yanmar) takes SAE 30 gear oil.
(Yanmar manual page 21).
I use Delo 400 which carries the CF/SL service rating.
It has also been suggested that the same oil as the engine (e.g. 15W40) is
acceptable. Grade CD or better. I have a Yanmar Operation Manual pfd
that also says that.
The beauty of using the multiweight is that you have one less item to inventory.
If you are able to suck all the old out, you will replace with 300 ml
(about 10 oz).

My Yanmar tech manual recommends using the same oil for both the gear box and crank case, SAE 30.

Brad, My 3YM30 takes the same oil for both motor and transmission. As

I assume when you say "gear" oil that you are talking about Diesel oil and not regular motor oil.

Hi All, My local yanmar dealer says to use 30 w for the trandmission and engine. I live in the New York area and have a 2002 boat.
